Soon, a second Soul Hunter arrives; he informs Sinclair that the first one is unbalanced and has decided not to wait for prominent people to die, but to proactively kill people in order to insure sucessful gathering of the souls. The first Soul Hunter attempts to kill Delenn and take her soul, but Sinclair is able to prevent it.

Story Arc
The new Medical Chief of Staff, Dr. Stephen Franklin, arrives on B5. His predecessor Dr. Kyle has become President Santiago's staff physician.

Background Information

  • Soul Hunters are people who are drawn towards death. They claim they save the soul as the body dies, preserving it and preventing it from destruction. Others claim that they are wrongfully inprisoning souls, preventing them from reaching their destiny, be it heaven or reincarnation or some other afterlife. (Still others think it's a load of nonsense).
  • Soul Hunters seek out only the souls of the most prominent and important of people. They sought the soul of the Minbari leader Dukhat at his death but were prevented. The Minbari made a wall of living bodies around Dukhat to save his soul.
  • The death of Dukhat lead to the Earth-Minbari War.
  • The first Soul Hunter recognizes Delenn as a member of the Grey Council, the supreme leaders of the Minbari. He communicates this to Sinclair, who wonders why someone with such authority would be playing ambassador.
